Lone Tree CouncilFrom Great Lakes Wiki
There are five officers, two standing committees, and two staff members. The Officers are elected yearly and all, including staff, serve without pay. The Organizational newsletter - the Leaf-Let, goes out to members and interested persons monthly. Funds are received from memberships, material sales (t-shirts, buttons, cards and bumper stickers), donations, funding events, and grants. Meetings are held on the second Friday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at Delta College, Room J-137. These meetings begin with an hour informational presentation followed by a business meeting. The public is always encouraged to attend. The Lone Tree Council is a major contributor to the Tittabawassee River Watch website however they are two seperate organizations. The Tittabawassee River Watch is an organization in the area of the Tittibawasee river which is part of the Saginaw River watershed. They are trying to protect their health, homes and the local environment from the possible effects of dioxin contamination in the area. They attribute the contamination to Dow Chemical Company located in Midland, MI. They are currently involved in the lawsuit against Dow Chemical, but welcome membership from any concerned citizens. Some other initiatives that Lone Tree Council and Tittabawassee River Watch have started include the CCW or Campaign for a Clean Watershed and Dredge it Right. External Links: |
