Water Levels

From Great Lakes Wiki

Lake Michigan could hit it's lowest level recorded since 1964. According to the Milwuakee Journal Sentinal, the US and Canadian governments are moving foward with a $14.6 million study of The Great Lakes water levels. There are many problems associated with both rising and falling water levels. A problem with falling water levels is soil eroison. Houses and beaches on the expansive shores of the great lakes could wash away and fall in the water itself. Experts agree that in the 1960's the dredging of the St. Clair River permanatly lowered the levels of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron because it created a larger drain hole.
